This sculpture is a lion's paw shell mounted on a pedestal with

a pink pearl on the inside. It was inspired by Sandro Botticelli's painting, The Birth of Venus (c. 1484–1486). The painting depicts

the goddess Venus arriving at the shore after her birth, when

she emerged from the sea in a clam shell, fully-grown and nude.

Venus represents love, beauty, and pleasure, hence Spikes

creating a sculpture that represents an abstract vagina.
