The Distorted Perspective of Good Music | 2017
After listening to the radio for the first time in 4 years, Spikes was very disturbed to hear the sound of the new music. He felt there
was no individuality, nor innovation with the artists or their lyrics.
His frustration manifested into a sculpture that was a direct
reflection of the shift in music.
The Distorted Perspective of Good Music sculpture was compiled with about 750 blank CDs mounted onto a 12 x 12 in. black granite tile. The blank CDs were intentionally laid in a disarray to convey the
idea of distortion. Spikes felt that the music he didn't care to listen to flooded the radio, while the good music was going unnoticed.
